2018

September 15th 2018 - Closing date for entries into the 112th Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Dance Championship.

October 16th - 18th 2018 - The 112th Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts (Piano & Song) takes place at the Christchurch Sanctuary, Ilkley.

November 3rd & 4th 2018 - The 112th Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Dance Championship takes place at Guiseley Theatre, The Green, Guiseley.

November 4th 2018 - The 112th Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Miss Dance of Great Britain heat takes place at Guiseley Theatre, The Green, Guiseley.

November 10th & 11th 2018 - The 112th Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Dance Championship takes place at Guiseley Theatre, The Green, Guiseley.

 

 

Piano & Song 2017

The Piano & Song section of the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts is now held seperately from May's Speech and Drama Festival and November's Dance Championship and takes place during October each year and will be held at Christchurch Sanctuary, The Grove, Ilkley, LS29 9LW.

The Adjudicator in 2017 is Dr Vivian Pike.

We were delighted to welcome the President of the Federation of National and International Festivals, Mrs Margaret Venables, to join us for our Festival opening, accompanied by Mr Aubrey Venables, Chair of Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire region. Seated amidst a sea of small performers, they were able to enjoy piano duets and trios and a selection of young vocal solos before the day ended with solo piano recitals from more experienced performers.

Dr Vivian Pike

Educated at Sheffield University and the Royal Northern College of Music where she studied singing, piano and violin. Vivien has been a General Adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals for 30 years with much experience in solo singing and choirs. A Churchill Fellowship in 2001 enabled her to research the cultural and educational influences on the high standard of solo and choral singing in Sweden, Finland and Estonia, leading to adjudicating and teaching in Latvia, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, Austria, New Zealand, Ireland and for the World Choir Games.  She was awarded a doctorate in...
